It's our first Tuesday Question! I am still pondering a name....Andrea suggested What's On Your Mind and I also pondered Questionable Tuesday to go with quotable. What do you think? (that is not your question of course!) Speaking of quotable...there are a few more Word quotables available...you can check it out here! Also I am looking for others to share their journeys through guest posts. I would love for you to share your story here. You can find out more info here.
Find out more about questions on Tuesday.
Today's question is....
What is your hometown or state famous for?
See you in the comments!
I missed this yesterday but thought I would chime in today...hope you don't mind.
Tennessee is the volunteer state, but my hometown, Centerville, is the home place of Minnie Pearl. Our claim to fame used to be that our town had no red lights...every time they hung one, someone would shoot it out. We can't say that any more.

My state (South Australia) is definitely known for its wine region, the Barossa Valley (http://www.southaustralia.com/Barossa.aspx). Yummo wine, yummo food, beautiful scenery - what more could you ask for?

LOL, I know Georgia is known for the peaches (I was actually born in GA!). It's so random my itty bitty small town has this huge peach output. When Bush was president one of the wealthier citizens in my hometown used to fly boxes of the peaches up to him. Not sure if he's done the same thing for Obama. Hmmm... Anyway, they are THE BEST (IMO). My mom brought a bag down a few weeks ago and I think B stood at the sink and ate about 6 in a row. They are so juicy you literally have to eat them over the sink because a paper towel won't do it. Great, now I'm hungry for a peach. :)

I am from Texas. If you had asked me when I graduated, I would have said my hair. I CR'd that one Friday.
You know what they say, "Everything is bigger in Texas", or, "Don't mess with Texas". We, also, have the Alamo in which my family fought. Cattle and oil. Multiple presidents.
And when things get boring, my family still lives there.

I have always wanted to go to MOA...just because :) And 10,000 lakes...it must be so beautiful! I hate when small suburbs grow too much. My hometown is so different from 10 years ago. Sad.

How cool is that! Rue? Love her. Still sad that she is gone. The bombings are still so sad. And I think I would not want to live in OK because the weather seems a little too intense! I don't care for country music either but I did love me some Reba and Garth. :)

Oh dear for Livonia. ;) I do love Orlando...but don't think I could live there...now some of the beaches in your home state...I could live there :o)

I have close friends from LA and they loved it...except the heat ;) Personally I think your state sounds lovely. And yay for your beloved Saints! Your state sounds famous.
And the best peaches...well I don't know about that! (I kid, I kid...although we are know for our peaches here in GA...and have a Peach county which makes me laugh.........)

I have spent the night in Virgina but that's it. I have always wanted to visit some of the historical things there. I love those kinds of things!
I missed you last week and I am glad you are back!

How cool! I am fascinated with that many golf courses in one place. Wowzers. The slow drivers....not so much! :P

Tuesday Tidbits....hmmm....I am going to think on it...I like it.
Lilacs are beautiful....so I am assuming Spokane is full of them? And I love Bing. White Christmas is one of my favorites!

I concur with Amanda...photo please! ;) Well thank you for Mr Keifer Sutherland....he has made me lose my breath on many occasions as Jack Bauer!

Strawberry Festival? YUM. I want to go! And I had no idea you could not pump your own gas in Oregon. That's....interesting ;)

Sadly Monica I have never been to Augusta. I do know that the Master's is huge there....and I do love me some Atlanta what in interesting experience it must have been to live there!

My hometown of Augusta, GA is famous for the Augusta National golf course where the prestigious Master's Golf Tournament is held each Spring. I lived many years in the Capitol city, and yes the airport is a right busy place! lol..

Andrea - I now demand a picture of you with a watermelon on your head. Just sayin' ;)
Let's see...I have 2 hometowns: 1 is where they filmed the (original) movie Yours, Mine, and Ours because it used to be a huge naval base. The other is famous for being home to the WORLD'S LARGEST STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE. Yes and amen. It feeds over 20,000 people every year at our Strawberry Festival :) I haven't been since 2004, but it's a huge part of my childhood.
My two home states, Oregon and California...let's see. You're not allowed to pump your own gas in Oregon.
California is (in)famous for a lot of things, but since I'm from NORTHERN California (which is pretty much a different state from socal) I'd say we're most famous for San Francisco. And maybe Arnold Schwarzenegger being the Governor.

Oooh - Tuesday Tidbits is fun!!
My province Saskatchewan is famous for being the birthplace of medicare, which is free health care for everyone in the country regardless of financial status. While it does have its cons (like the longest wait lists ever!), I really appreciate that everyone has access to the same quality of health care not matter what.
Also, the father of medicare was Tommy Douglas, who was Keifer Sutherland's grandfather. So basically Saskatchewan is responsible for 24. You're welcome. ;)
Oh, and our football fans wear watermelons on their heads.

My hometown of Spokane, WA is famous for its lilacs. It is also the birthplace of Bing Crosby and of course, me.
How about TUESDAY TIDBITS for a title?
Fondly,
Glenda

My hometown is the Golf Capital of The World with over 70 courses in our small county! As a result, we are also one of the largest retirement communities in NC. Which...as a result...makes our roads full of really, really slow drivers. I kid.
Really, I am sure you've seen Pinehurst on TV. We hostest the US (Gold) Open in 1999 and 2008(I believe).
It's beautiful here :-)

I feel like I missed so much in the week I was away! First off - I LOVE the new design! It made me giggle when I saw your comment and then your header! haha Great minds my friend... :)
As for my state. Well let's see: Virginia Hams, Hospitality, a bunch of US Presidents, Jamestown the 1st settlement, Colonial Williamsburg, Mount Vernon (George Washington's home) and a whole lot of Revolutionary and Civil War battles. Lot's of history here! :)

My hometown is famous for THE BEST peaches ever produced! There is a festival every year and our peaches are shipped all over the country. Unfortunately, they are only out for about 3 weeks. Boo.
My state is famous for the best food in the country and corrupt politics. We're also famous for Mardi Gras, Katrina, and, up until this past year, having the worst football team in the NFL. Now we're famous for having the Super Bowl champs and the most solid fan base. We're also famous for being hot and sweltering - which is why when people talk about my state they call it a swamp. Very apropos.
This was fun! I liked reading everyone else's answers! :)

My state: beaches and old people. My hometown? Hmm...first I'd have to figure out what I consider my hometown. Tampa: Busch Gardens which is just a few bus stops past mine. Orlando: Disney World, Universal Studios, SeaWorld. Livonia...not much worth repeating in mixed company.

My hometown is famous for being the hometown of Rue McClanahan. And my state is famous for having our own musical named after us, I guess, and tornadoes and wild weather and though it's more Oklahoma City than the entire state, the Oklahoma City Murrah Building Bombing on April 19, 1995. Also our state is famous for all the country music superstars that we've produced, like Garth Brooks and Reba McEntire and Toby Keith. Incidentally, I really don't like country music. Go figure.

My state: 10,000 lakes and Mall Of America (MOA) of course. I am not sure what my town is known for. Probably for all of it expensive shops that I don't like. It use to be a small suburb but now it is quite different from what it once had been as a child.

My home town is famous for a festival each year called the Marble Festival. My state? Peanuts and Peaches. We are still called the peach state. We also have to busiest airport in the world in our capital city. :o)
