In the early hours of Friday morning I wrapped myself in a blanket and slipped outside. I sat on the hood of my car and looked up.
As I sat there and looked up into the night sky I heard the beautiful night music all around.
The last time I had done this it was late autumn and it was quiet.
As my eyes began to adjust to the darkness I began to see more and more stars.
The sky soon was full of beautiful points of light.
As I sat there waiting to see if I was going to get to see some of the shooting stars (meteors from the perseids shower) I pondered something.
I wondered if God made it so that we could not see all the stars right away.
That we had to sit.
Be still.
And wait.
And slowly they would be revealed to us.
I realized that the night sky is a lot like His plans.
We may be able to see small glimpses of it. Just like the stars. But we have to also sit.
Be still.
And wait.
And slowly He reveals them to us.
The best part is... sometimes He sends us a bright shooting star...to remind us to stay the course.
Beautiful things are coming.
Love, love, LOVE THIS!!! Being in the city, I don't see the stars very often. I have to go up to the lake to see them. But what a wonderful word picture - I love you insight of the eternal in the temporal!

Beautiful. What a great analogy and reminder of God's timing and revelation of his plan. What's funny is that I just blogged about the stars as well. I also mention patience. ;)

Haha - this is sure perfect timing for me, too! Waiting and I are not very good friends. :P

I needed this reminder as I am having to be still and await God's answer about a potential new job. Thank you for sharing.

This is beautiful, Christy! I briefly pondered going out in my backyard to star gaze and watch the meteor shower and then chickened out, thinking instead that it was better to get sleep (which I didn't end up getting, go figure). But I l.o.v.e this analogy, so true. There is great purpose in the sitting and waiting part of God's reveal of His plans, I totally believe that.
