I cannot believe the end of September is here! I hope each of you that participated in pouring out are excited to share about your experience. Here is the order of today's post: I will share my experience, tell you about October's pouring out and have the link list for you to join!
My thoughts on the September Challenge:
You are going to laugh when I tell you who I chose as my person this month. Why? Because she is the smallest member of my family and only 3 and 1/2 months old. :o) I chose my niece, Toccoa, because I had not been able to spend much time with her in the last two months. Because of an infection and temperature that just would not go away I was not allowed to be with her so when I was released by the doctor at the beginning of September I vowed to catch up with the time missed.
I have spent several Saturday's with her and even got to keep her this past Monday instead of her going to her normal babysitter's house. I have sat with her in a rocking chair for many hours just talking to her. Telling her stories of her dad and me growing up and of her great grandma and how she longed to meet her but was not able to. I told her of how much we love and adore her and how thankful we are to our God that he bestowed such a gift on our family. I made up a personalized version of Jesus Loves (me) Toccoa. I also learned about her. She adores music. She will stop what she is doing, whatever it may be, to listen. She loves to talk and is very strong. She wants to sit up so bad she cannot stand it. When she is mad she likes to yell at us in her baby talk. She is SASSY! She loves to be cuddled close and she smiles everytime you kiss her cheeks....no matter if she was angry just before. She is a blessing. I had such fun getting to know her better and just spending time with her. I also wrote her a letter about this month that will go in her keepsake box for her to read when she is older. I told her about my blog and the pouring out challenges and why I want to pour into her...now....and always.
October's Pouring Out challenge -- Tangible Encouragement.
A few weeks ago dayspring offered to send a free pack of cards to anyone who would send them out and blog about them on the National Day of Encouragement. I love cards...you could call me a stationary junkie....and so I jumped at the opportunity. As I sat down to write my thoughts about the day (which is linked above) I thought of the phrase tangible encouragement. That is what cards and letters and gifts are. A piece of encouragement we can hold onto.
Your pouring out challenge for the month of October is to send tangible encouragement to someone each week. It can be a card, a gift, a letter, anything they can hold in their hands. A tangible reminder that they are loved and cared about...by YOU!
