I don't usually do things like this on my bloggy but I have been struggling for the last 24 hours or so.
My heart it is so broken for the people of Haiti. Right now they are estimating the death toll between 50,000 to 500,000. There could be a half a million people dead. My brain can not wrap itself around that number.
Yet I am so angry because people are making it about politics, religion, organizations. I have heard things come from Christians I know and love that literally made me sick to my stomach.
I don't understand.
A verse kept coming to me...
I tell you the truth, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me. Matthew 25:45
It's not about what these people may or may not have done in the past or in the present. It's not about any sin they committed. If it is...we are all in trouble....because sin is sin is sin...and we all sin.
It's not about politics, or religion, or what organization to give to.
It's about the lives lost.
About the pain those left are experiencing.
About the loss of their homes, their livelihoods....their loved ones.
About those who at this moment are waiting for any news about their loved one.
About those who right now are feeling so very hopeless.
It is, however, also about what we can do.
Love.
Prayer.
Money.
Time.
Giving.
It's about something more than us. It's also about our Savior. Who would do everything... I do mean everything...for these people. it's about doing what He has asked us to do....
For the least of these.
